Benefits of Camphor

Camphor is an aromatic compound derived from the plant Cinnamonum camphora, found widely grown in Asia.This evergreen tree is a native to rainforests of subtropical Japan, China and East Asia. 
It was introduced in India as an ornamental plant; in South India, it was grown as a source of camphor and also cultivated in Dehra Dun, Saharanpur and Calcutta. It is useful against cough & cold, bronchitis, inflammation, rheumatism, muscle aches and sprains. 
Camphor essential oil is also very helpful on cold sores, heart and blood circulation disorders. Its strong scent is believed to be toxic to insects and is used by the folk people as Repellent! They burn camphor in the closed rooms to get rid of flies and insects.
